PlayStation Network users have been experiencing the PS3′s online service go down yet again just recently. Users from Europe as well as North America have stated they are still seeing the PlayStation Network is down for maintenance message. Sony has now given an official update regarding the message.

Sony’s European account said via Twitter:

Please bear with us as we continue working on #PSN restoration. We are experiencing extremely heavy traffic.”

Also, on the official blog's web page they stated:

"We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.

As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.

If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online."

They said before that:

For those still waiting for #PSN password reset emails, please be patient as we are handling a lot of requests.

Are you still experiencing the PSN is down for maintenance message?

The official Sony update comes after Sony’s Steve Reynolds recently confirmed that the PSN has indeed gone down again:

“All – I know PSN is down for maintenance.”
