Still yet to be officially announced by Apple, the CEO of France Telecom, parent company of European wireless provider Orange, has preemptively revealed what he thinks is to be the release date for the iPhone 5.
According to TechRadar, Stephane Richard stated the following while speaking with the Frech media:
"If we believe what we have been told, the iPhone 5 will be released on 15 October."
Knowing Apple's tight-lipped behavior regarding product releases, this may very well just be a general date that France Telecom was provided in order to prepare for the product's launch but, nonetheless, words from a company's CEO aren't necessarily something to take lightly.
Despite the relatively reliable source, October 15 lies on a Saturday, a peculiar day considering Apple's tradition of releasing new versions of the iPhone on weekdays. On the other hand, releasing the device on a weekend would surely result in a considerable increase of people waiting in lines for the launch of Apple's next smartphone.
